Summary of Position


The Lead Buyer's responsibilities include, but not limited to, communicating with suppliers, sourcing/pricing, processing purchase orders, inventory control, setting up project buy-plans, and liaising with Project Coordinators.

The Lead Buyer will work with staff across departments to schedule their material needs and ensure timely delivery to Sunrise.

This role has a career path for progression to a Supply Chain Manager position.


Duties and Responsibilities

This position involves the following responsibilities:

1. Production Purchases**- Review material requirements for current and upcoming projects

  • Create Buy Plans according to requirements
  • Place and followup POs accordingly
  • Ensure transport of goods is arranged and track orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Ensure stock levels are kept at appropriate levels
  • Ensure ERP is up to date on all transactions
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required
  • Review quality reports of received material and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.

2.
Material Sourcing/Pricing and Sample Requests

  • Fulfill material sample requests per established process
  • Source and price out materials as requested
  • Communicate and provide the information to those who initiated the requests.

3. Supplier Score Cards**- Work with QA to maintain supplier score cards

  • Prepare supplier performance reports for review with Director of Operations

Employment Requirements

  • Secondary school education
  • Can legally work in Canada
  • Proficient in English, written and verbal
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role required

Desired skills and experience

  • Wood industry experience
  • Cabinet industry experience would be an asset
  • Experience sourcing and buying wood products and related hardware
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail

Job Types:

Salary:
$22.00-$26.00 per hour
