    Assistant Superintendents are the on-site day to day quality leaders ensuring that works are planned, scheduled, coordinated, communicated, and executed. They are responsible for aiding in the development of work plans; obtaining and reviewing subcontractor work plans; coordination between subcontractors, our crews, and third parties; self-inspecting materials and in-process work; reporting issues; and resolving issues in a timely manner.

    The Assistant Site Superintendent will be responsible for the supervision of all construction activities that take place on the work site, ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency. The Assistant Site Superintendent will be responsible for the management of all on site construction workers and enforcement of all required safety and work regulation policies. All work crews and individuals on-site shall take direction from the Assistant Site Superintendent who is responsible for assigning required work and applying resources to accomplish that work. Assistant Site Supervisors are responsible for the efficient use of labor, machines, and materials by their crews, and will report on such things as personnel, costs and safety. Other responsibilities will include the planning and scheduling of work, maintain records of all materials used and the progress made on a job. While this job is mainly a position of supervision and management, the Assistant Site Supervisors may be required to assist in construction work on an occasional basis. Assistant Site Superintendent must be familiar with contracts and procedures.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent with the initial mobilization and set up of the construction site.
    • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
    • Ensure the efficient use of labor, machines and materials used by the crew.
    • Take an active role in the selection, training, assignment and supervision of project staff, including monitoring performance, providing feedback and taking corrective action.
    • Coordinate the daily activities of project staff, construction trades and subcontractors, and use corrective actions to keep the project on time and on budget.
    • Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems.
    • Monitor job progress and costs and provide regular progress reporting to management.
    • Manage all project administration activities including payroll, timekeeping, labor coding, equipment coding, purchase order coding and safety reporting.
    • Establish effective onsite communications and progress reporting with sub-trades and clients.
    • Maintain effective labor relations through compliance with company policies, labor agreements, and resolution of employee grievances and fair treatment of employees.
    • Provide coaching and training to Field Engineers, Project Coordinators
    • Ensure compliance with the health and safety training and reporting requirements.
    • Handle all subcontractor interactions in a manner designed to build a long-term relationship.
    • Develop personal & social relationships with selective subcontractors; Operate as One Team
    • Build strong win-win relationships with other departments within the Company, including project management, marketing, business development, accounting, and superintendents. Never Stop Improving

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    • Degree or Diploma in construction related discipline
    • Mandarin speaking is an asset but not required
    • 8 years of experience in construction
    • Must have at least 3-5 years of experience of condo construction in Ontario.
    • Experienced in managing sub trade relationships and external stakeholders
    • Knowledge of site supervisory best practices.
    • Ability to stay highly organized and balance multiple tasks.
    • Background in site management support
    • Experience using project management tools.
