- Provide subject matter expertise on Security & Life Safety operations and emerging technologies to drive property resilience
- Manage regulatory and practical compliance for occupational health & safety, fire safety, and general life safety requirements at the property
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across all departments to ensure property-wide alignment with health, safety and fire system regulatory requirements
- Oversee, manage and mentor a team of both Security, and Fire Life Safety Supervisors, and 25+ hourly personnel, including conducting annual performance reviews & quarterly coaching
- Oversee and manage third party supplemental guards as required to maintain optimal coverage levels
- Analyze and report performance data to National Security Operations (NSO) and third-party partners to support quarterly reporting and corporate business objectives
- Drive continual improvement practices (long and short-term outlooks) in operations and innovative technology to address high-risk and sophisticated tenant requirements
- Execute financial oversight by creating, reviewing, and approving budgets to ensure annual expenditures align with security operating strategies, business models, technology standards, and principles prior to review and sign-off by the GM, VPs Operations, or higher
- Manage fiscal accuracy by completing accruals in a timely manner and monitoring monthly expenditures to ensure year end budget targets are met
- Build and maintain key relationships with retail and office clients, public authorities, and security industry partners, including local police, fire and emergency medical services
- Oversee the end-to-end technology life cycle, from purchasing and implementation to ensuring all installations comply with national standards and strategic business objectives
- Develop long-term capital plans, including 10-year projections and cost analysis for physical security and technology expenditures
- Direct security-related capital projects, collaborating with internal resources and external consultants to develop RFP's and business cases through to execution
- Provide ongoing oversight of the Security & Life Safety program, ensuring regular assessments and updates to remain current with Cadillac Fairview standards and industry leading practices and to continually achieve operational and fiscal efficiency
- Ensure all internal and external audits are completed on schedule, meeting internal and external standards and prescribed timelines for all follow-up items
- Oversee the implementation of property security strategies through regular liaison with National Security Operations and Property Management to maintain consistent service delivery and financial effectiveness
- Drive continual improvements by conducting comprehensive reviews of internal business process, including use of force, emergency management and fire safety and implement policy and procedural changes to close gaps
- Execute other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Security & Life Safety Department
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver public presentations and high-level business proposals
- Leadership: Proven ability to motivate, delegate, and develop large teams under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Diplomacy: Strong tact and diplomacy in dealing at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical, prioritization, and decision-making skills required to manage complex risk events
- Adaptability: Highly adaptable when dealing with a diversity of situations, people and time-sensitive pressures.
- Experience managing both in-house and contract guards an asset
- Community college diploma in a related field of Security and Life Safety, Risk Management or Criminology (or equivalent business management qualification)
- Four-year undergraduate or college degree or post-graduate studies up to and including Master's Degree is an asset
- A minimum of 7 years working in a commercial real estate security and life safety environment, or equivalent – or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 5 years of security and life safety management experience, ideally at a series of properties of increasingly complex scope – or equivalent work experience
- Professional security industry accreditation, including (CPP, ASP, PSP)
- A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail
- Some knowledge of Security and Life Safety technology (i.e. CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Intrusion) and other security-related systems
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations in the area of Security and Life Safety management
- Sound knowledge of industry techniques and emergent trends in Security and Life Safety management, as well as Risk Management and Crime Prevention

Role Impact
As the Senior Manager, Security & Life Safety, you will provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise for all security and life safety services at a high-profile, complex, urban property. This is a critical leadership role where you are responsible for the effective and efficient execution of all operational aspects of the Security & Life Safety Department, including the end-to-end execution of a mixed-use ecosystem, spanning high-volume retail and premium office spaces.
Reporting to the General Manager with a functional link to National Security Operations, you bridge local property needs with corporate standards. You will lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of 30+ to ensure the property remains resilient and prepared for a wide range of risk events. Your impact is driven by your ability to drive financial oversight, ensure regulatory excellence through rigorous compliance, and analyze performance data to support corporate business objectives and innovative technology improvements all while leading team growth and fostering a collaborative culture across the property to maintain a safe, secure environment for all stakeholders.
