Duties

Under the direction of the Director, Online and Blended Learning, the incumbent supports the College on and develops systems for demonstrating compliance with the curricular standards set out in the provincially mandated Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

The incumbent will work closely with faculty, staff, the Centre for Academic Excellence, Library Learning Commons, Learning System Services, Counselling and Accessibility Services, and Human Resources to evaluate, collect data to monitor and advise on current AODA compliance in academic curriculum, create training resources for employees, assist with policy development, make recommendations for tools and technologies to reach AODA compliance, and act as a resource for AODA curricular compliance at Fanshawe College.

Qualifications**- Post-secondary 4-year degree in Social Sciences or related program with a focus on disability studies, research, law, public policy and/or governance

  • Equivalent education may be considered
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with developing and promoting accessibility and ensuring compliance with legislated requirements
  • Welldeveloped knowledge and understanding of the AODA Act, 200
  • Knowledge of online instructional design
  • Familiarity with and understanding of trends in educational technology
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA technical standard
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheet and data management software
  • Knowledge of postsecondary operating environments and curriculum would be an asset
