Position Summary
***Responsible for the overall administrative requirements of the Labour Relations Representatives staff to meet the requirements for the day to day and long-term operations of the Nova Scotia Nurses' Union (NSNU). Accountable to the Executive Director or designate.


Responsibilities
***Provides support to the Labour Relations Representatives in relation to grievance management, meetings and other assistance that may be needed


This includes:

  • Booking meetings, distributing agendas, and maintaining minutes.
  • Making travel arrangements.
  • Acts as a conduit to coordinate and process information between the Union and the Employer.
  • Liaise with external legal firm to provide information as needed.
  • Participate in biweekly labour legal meetings, preparing agenda and taking minutes.
  • Manage the grievance case files using the digital records management system.
  • Update the NSNU database with local executive changes.
  • Responsible for filing and tracking signed Collective Agreements and Memorandums of Agreement.
  • Provide other administrative support and assistance where necessary.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in office administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and technical skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to format documents, create table of contents, and index in Word.
  • Database records management is an asset.

Founded in 1976, the Nova Scotia Nurses' Union (NSNU) is a professional union representing more than 8,000 Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners in Nova Scotia hospitals, long term care facilities, adult residential centres, and community nursing practices.

This is a unionised position; you will be part of the NSNU Staff Union. Key benefits include a defined benefit pension, healthcare dental plan and various other benefits. The salary range for this position is $36,330 to $54,357 (expired, October 31, 2020).
