Associate Lawyer Editor - Practical Law Canada

Purpose:
To support the content creation and maintenance processes for Practical Law Canada.


This position is responsible for:

  • Supporting authoring process for Practical Law Canada materials by researching changes in the law and authoring, reviewing or editing portions of resources as directed by PL Canada Lawyer Editors.
  • Developing expertise with Practical Law products and editorial tools.
  • Researching, writing, editing, updating and publishing legal updates for PL Canada resources created by inhouse Lawyer Editors and thirdparty contributors as directed by PL Canada Lawyer Editors or Manager
  • Tracking updates to websites, caselaw and legislation. Filtering and relaying this information to the appropriate parties to support the timely maintenance of Practical Law.
  • Supporting Manager and Lawyer Editors with gotomarket tasks including preparing content for marketing materials.
You will be a strong team player and will possess:

  • an LL.B or J.D. degree;
- experience working as a lawyer or student in a law firm or in-house environment.
- excellent drafting and writing skills, including very close attention to detail; an impressive command of grammar, punctuation and plain English, and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
- enthusiasm, with a desire to improve the efficiency of legal services.
- strong analytical, problem solving and issue-resolution skills.
- strong planning and organizational skills.
- strong technical skills with software-as-a-service products and content management systems preferred.
