The Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering (IBBME) is a multidisciplinary research community where investigators across engineering, medicine and dentistry collaborate to develop innovative solutions that address global challenges in human health.
Located in the heart of Canada's largest health-care research network, our faculty offer quality education to students who receive training in biomedical and clinical engineering.
These highly experienced faculty have been involved in launching more than 20 start-up companies and driving three major biomedical engineering commercialization ventures.
Your opportunity:
The applicant will report directly tothe Principal Investigator and will receive instructions from the Principal Investigator. The applicant will support daily activities of the principal investigator and the team.
The applicant will be required to collect information from the team members and collate the information as needed for submission to online forms.
The applicant is expected to be an outstanding communicator who can effectively communicate with the team members as well as persons outside the team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collating and organizing data
- Tracking and monitoring research activities
- Proofreading and factchecking content, reviewing material
- Updating and maintaining documentation
- Coordinating meetings with faculty, students and external contacts; preparing agendas, materials, action and followup items
- Generating reports
- Recommending the purchase of equipment and supplies
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in research
- Experience working in a laboratory setting
- Experience in a laboratory performing standard lab techniques
- Demonstrated experience preparing scientific reports and organizing research data
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and editing scientific literature
- Excellent computer skills (e.g. Access, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to understand instructions and act accordingly
- Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with PI, research team, and external contacts
- Strong organization and prioritization skills required to coordinate research activities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work well with other lab members and ability to collect information from external sources
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, good judgment, initiative, tact and discretion
