Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Regular Full-Time Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic Testing team.
The Testing team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by performing routine and extensive testing. These testing services help ensure a safe and secure blood supply that protects donors and recipients. Every unit is tested so we can ensure a safe supply chain to every patient.
In this role, you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the delivery of products, processes and services that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians.
Formula for success- Drawing on your knowledge and experience in laboratory functions, you will accession patient samples for testing, pack blood components for delivery and receive stock blood components and returned components into inventory and determine if returned components are acceptable for redistribution.
- Utilizing your knowledge and understanding of reagent preparation and use, you will prepare phosphate buffered saline (PBS) for use on automation and perform reagent lot release.
- You will work collaboratively to ensure the safety and quality of blood products, integrity of testing and safe environment for equipment operators.
- Completion of secondary education and minimum 1 year of laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Bachelor of Science, College Diploma or Certificate in a Medical Laboratory Assistant program would be considered an asset.
- Technical skills including MS Office, and the ability to learn systems and programs, as required.
- Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
- Must have good oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely, prepare and maintain accurate records, and carry out repetitive tasks.
- Experience in food processing, pharmaceutical or biologics manufacturing is a strong asset.
- Starting hourly rate $22.8

- Shifts/Hours = Monday to Friday 7am 3pm OR 6am 2pm.
