Program Overview

The JVS
Employment Source offices, funded by MLITSD, provides a range of employment services (information and referral, one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services) to unemployed individuals of all ages, professional backgrounds and skills to help them gain employment within their field or a related field.

We're looking for someone who will:

Provide individual employment counselling and program referrals, including the ability to complete common assessments
Assess client needs and develop service plans that support each client's employment and retention goals
Maintain complete client case files in compliance with the new Employment Ontario model requirements; monitor clients' progress with ongoing followup
Collaborate with community partners and cultural specific organizations to provide high volume service in Russian in the community
Assist trainees/clients in securing and maintaining employment, including advocating for client's successful placement and job retention
Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position._

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree (International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency)
Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 35 years of counselling experience.
12 years of employment counselling experience
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Fluent in Russian
Strong problemsolving skills
Effective organization and time management skills
Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work with a wide range of personality types; sensitivity to diversity
Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (i.e. MS Teams, Outlook & CaseFlo)
Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure
Familiarity with common assessment
Certification from a Career & Work Counsellor program
Police background check
