Program Overview
The JVS
Employment Source offices, funded by MLITSD, provides a range of employment services (information and referral, one-on-one employment counselling, employment workshops, job development/placement services) to unemployed individuals of all ages, professional backgrounds and skills to help them gain employment within their field or a related field.
We're looking for someone who will:
- Provide individual employment counselling and program referrals, including the ability to complete common assessments
- Assess client needs and develop service plans that support each client's employment and retention goals
- Maintain complete client case files in compliance with the new Employment Ontario model requirements; monitor clients' progress with ongoing followup
- Collaborate with community partners and cultural specific organizations to provide high volume service in Russian in the community
- Assist trainees/clients in securing and maintaining employment, including advocating for client's successful placement and job retention
- Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position._
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency)
- Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 35 years of counselling experience.
- 12 years of employment counselling experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in Russian
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work with a wide range of personality types; sensitivity to diversity
- Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (i.e. MS Teams, Outlook & CaseFlo)
- Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure
- Familiarity with common assessment
- Certification from a Career & Work Counsellor program
- Police background check
