Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving and unloading of lab packs
  • Processing of incoming lab packing including segregating and bulking of wastes
  • Identify, segregate, classify, consolidate, package, label hazardous and nonhazardous materials for transport with necessary documentation
  • Ensure hazardous waste inventory is correct and that containers are shippable in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Count, weigh and measure incoming and outgoing materials; compare identifying information against manifests, bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; identify and communicate discrepancies
  • When working on client site pack chemicals based on compatibility and prepare waste for pickup in correct packaging
  • Load and unload trucks as required with various equipment such as a handtruck, fork truck or other equipment as required
  • Responsible for maintaining the lab pack room, maintaining inventory and ensure waste is processed in a timely manner
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by understanding customer's hazardous waste disposal requirements
  • Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned and helping in other areas as required

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in chemistry, chemical technology or related discipline
  • Minimum five (5) years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of chemicals, waste management, TDGA, lab packing
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Must pass criminal records/security check
  • Able to travel overnight on occasion
  • Able to lift fifty (50) pounds
