    What you'll be doing:


    The Brewer is a key position on the brewing team who must be a self-starter with great energy and true passion for craft beer and spirits.

    Our Client's Brewing team works together under minimal supervision to execute daily brewing operations, lead with innovation and creativity on project brews, facilitate best-in-class quality standards, and actively participate in sales and marketing efforts through beer education and public relations.

    A day in your life might include...
    Performing all tasks associated with making great and consistent craft beers, from milling to the packaging tank.
    Conducting a pre-inspection and operating all equipment associated with the brewing. Equipment includes but not limited to the malt mill, mash kettle, lauter tun, boiler, whirlpool, centrifuge, fermenters, chiller. Providing input on equipment optimization throughout growth initiatives.
    Preparing, organizing and tracking all materials used during the brewing process. Monitoring the processes and adjusting as required to meet our client's high-quality standards.
    Collecting samples of beers throughout the brewing process, centrifuge and milling operations.
    Performing thorough sanitation duties including the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and utensils to ensure quality standards are met.

    Working closely with the Quality Control and Brewing Team, the Brewer will monitor the quality of production, end products and operational performance and quality and area sanitation.

    Taking measurements and conducting standardized tests on beer/wort to ensure compliance with Muskoka Brewery quality standards; factors such as gravity and pH.

    Conducting sensory evaluation such as Diacetyl, 3-MBT, DMS to proactively detect potential brewing quality concerns.

    The Brewer will operate as an ambassador of the brewery whenever the opportunity arises because the quality and freshness of their products from raw material to the consumer is everyone's responsibility.

    Promoting accident prevention by eliminating potential hazards and incorporating proper body mechanics in training procedures.

    Actively participating in their safe operations by providing feedback and suggestions to the Brewmaster and the JHSC to contribute to the continuous improvements of their brewery.

    Inspecting equipment and performing continuous housekeeping duties to meet the sanitation expectations.

    Working with various departments, the Brewer will help lead project development for recipe and beer profiles, resourcing materials, educating other team members on the process, and presenting beer launches.

    Leading consumer and customer beer education sessions including high profile events, food pairings, brewery tours, and supporting other sales and marketing efforts.

    Proactively be the ambassador of Muskoka brewery through relationship building and networking initiative.

    What you'll bring to the team:
    Post-secondary education in a related field.
    Ideal candidate will have 2 years of Brewing experience (Distillation an asset).
    Successful graduate of Brewery Operations Management (an asset).
    Strong understanding of equipment and the science of brewing.
    Able to lift 50lbs unassisted.
    Able to work at heights.
    Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office operating systems.
    Strong understanding of equipment and the science of brewing.
    Available and able to work 12-hour shifts, overnights, weekends and holiday schedules as required.

    Salary Range:
    $22-$26/hr depending on experience

    Hours of work:
    Shifts are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm x 5 days, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm x 5 days, and nights are 9:00 pm - 7:00 am x Monday night to Thursday night (4 nights)
