RED DEER, AB, CANADA PART-TIME TEMPORARY UNTIL MARCH 31, 2023

Are you interested in working with youth who are new to Canada?

Do you have a positive attitude? Are you able to work effectively across cultures with youth newcomers?

Care for Newcomers just happens to have an exciting opportunity for you

We're looking for a resourceful, creative and energetic individual to join our Youth Settlement team to:

  • Assist in the delivery of age-appropriate programs through games, arts/crafts, drama, photography, music, cooking, sports, stories etc.
  • Support our immigrant youth in learning about diversity, multiculturalism and other challenges that may have been affecting them by providing orientation and mentorship
A little about what you bring to Care for Newcomers:

  • The desire to help youth newcomers to get settled in Canada and a focus for community building and support
  • Ideally working towards relevant postsecondary degree or training.
  • Professional in your interactions and confidential with the information you hear.
  • Knowledge of the settlement process and issues facing immigrants and refugees during their integration process
  • Available to work three days a week (20 hrs/wk)
  • You enjoy public speaking
  • Able to maintain and manage client information with reporting, tracking and outcomes measurements
  • You take initiative, work independently and are organized with work and records

A little about what you'll do:

  • Deliver activities focusing on enhancing self-esteem, independence, positive self-identity and a sense of belonging in the community
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of youth program activities
  • Provide administrative support including filing and data entry
  • Support other Care for Newcomers youth programming, NOW (Newcomer Orientation Week), after school programming, etc.

Salary:
$22.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Red Deer, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
