SUMMARY:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead, coordinate, and execute all aspects of assigned projects and initiatives with R&D.
  • Lead value engineering program, including managing progress towards annuals targets, facilitating crossfunctional meetings and activities, and preparing reports and presentations.
  • Build project plans and ensure that deliverables are completed on time and on budget.
  • Scope new projects, identifying strategic priorities, building business case, and gaining alignment.
  • Research frameworks, trends, and develops, relevant to assigned projects and programs.
  • Establishes strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to advance projects and initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders at all levels, and motivate others to achieve deliverables through clear expectations, facilitation, and communication.
  • Communicate with all levels of team to regularly engage, consult, share information, and report on progress.
  • Work in partnership with R&D leadership team to drive department and operational improvements.
  • Coordinate and lead partnership work with external stakeholders and vendors, as required to advance R&D initiatives and meet technical or business objectives.
  • Liaise with external partners and entities to define scope of work and negotiate contracts.
  • Plan, coordinate, and run brainstorming meetings, plant trials, and validation tests for key strategic projects.
  • Coordinate and support new production startup and troubleshooting inhouse for key strategic projects.
  • Proactively mitigates risks and resolves problems, by addressing issues in timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all government, industry, and company regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work, as well as all documentation required for SR&ED
  • Provide technical and project coaching to individual contributors.

  • Strong knowledge of R&D and food manufacturing
  • Strong technical and crossfunctional project leadership and management skills
  • Strong English oral and written communication and ability represent company in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills, maintaining accurate records of all technical and project work.
  • Selfdirected, accountable for delivering against multiple projects, initiatives, goals and metrics.
  • Accurately estimates timelines, anticipates and mitigates project risks and technical challenges.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and work in teams.
  • Communicates with nontechnical team members to provide technical input and advice.
  • Strong ability to write detailed technical and project reports and gives clear presentations to communicate results; presents findings to R&D team and to the larger company.
  • Strong decision making, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills; critically assess the quality of data, research approach, and scientific underpinning from data obtained from internal and thirdparty institutes.
  • Constructively supports and challenges other R&D team members; provides productive feedback.
  • Constantly seeks to advanced technical and professional skills and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sc. in related science or engineering discipline (Food Science, Process Engineering, etc.)
  • 7+ years of work experience in food R&D or product development; strong track record of technical delivery; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • PMP and/or comparable project management certifications or education is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and proven accomplishments as part of an R&D team.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading R&D and crossfunctional projects.
  • Strong knowledge of R&D (food analysis, chemistry, safety, sensory), engineering or food manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 and Sharepoint
  • Valid Canadian Driver's License
  • Travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to lift 50lb bags.
