JOB SUMMARY
Entry-level management role focusing on supporting day-to-day activities of Rooms Operations and overseeing areas including Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff, AYS, and Concierge/Guest Services. Directs and collaborates with employees to execute guest arrival and departure procedures, and maintain property cleanliness standards. Strives for guest and employee satisfaction while meeting the operating budget.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
OR
- 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major from an accredited university; 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Supporting the Management of Rooms Operations Activities
- Opens and closes Front Desk shifts/Housekeeping, ensuring completion of assigned checklists and other duties.
- Runs and reviews critical information in room operations reports.
- Temporarily supervises Room Operations department in absence of management.
- Ensures proper supplies, uniforms, and equipment operation.
- Comprehends and utilizes night audit procedures and reports.
- Adheres to loss prevention policies.
Contributing Information to Support Managing to Budget
- Supervises selling procedures for maximizing room revenue and occupancy.
- Verifies room rates for revenue optimization.
- Utilizes budgets, operating statements, and reports for managing Room Operations.
- Manages expenses to meet budget goals.
- Understands Room Operations' impact on property financial objectives.
Providing for and Managing the Guest Experience
- Participates in accident investigations.
- Utilizes a guest information tracking system for repeat guest recognition.
- Sets an example for guest relations.
- Gathers guest feedback and handles problems effectively.
- Reviews comment cards and guest satisfaction results.
Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities
- Supports operational functions.
- Trains staff, monitors policy adherence.
- Communicates Room Operations goals clearly.
- Supervises staffing levels.
- Trains employees in safety procedures.
- Observes and provides feedback on service behaviors.
- Empowers employees for excellent customer service.
- Participates in hiring and training.
- Sets performance expectations, conducts appraisals, offers coaching.
- Handles disciplinary procedures, employee recognition, and scheduling.
- Assists in payroll.
- Ensures policy compliance.
The salary range for this role is $51,000 to $63,000 annually.
