The Opportunity


This position is a user of a wide range of software and hardware tools to provide ingest, video encoding, live web streaming, web video publishing, podcast publishing, editing services, deletes and monitoring for the editing system, and closed captioning services.

The role will include various tasks based on demand to meet business objectives; as such you will be able to self-manage multiple priorities and multi task.


How you will make an impact

  • Work with the Business Systems Owner to design, test and implement new technical workflows to be used by Media Services in the delivery of content to multipleplatforms
  • Write and maintain detailed, accurate procedures and instructions to be referenced by Media Services Operators, Enterprise Media and Clients for new and evolving workflows
  • Write and trouble shoot HTML, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and XML documents used for transferring, transforming, and displaying assets and metadata from TVO's databases on external content partner platforms
  • Run manual and automated AODA checks on TVO's websites to ensure they are meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Be a key resource for TVO in regards to WCAG guidelines
  • Report any issues with TVO websites in regards to AODA compliancy
  • Provide training to employees and become super user of AODA compliance software used by TVO
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders, analyze problems, develop solutions and recommend methods to streamline business processes in collaboration with the Business System Owner.
  • Work on projects that help the department adapt to changes in the media environment and requests from content areas
  • Act as backup to Business Systems Owner as technical liaison with internal clients and external partners or vendors to ensure delivery and operational support of TVO content to various delivery platforms
  • Gather requirements from clients and work closely with Enterprise Software Services to effectively incorporate changing requirements for new content distribution initiatives
  • Test, document, and implement new tools, systems, processes & procedures pertaining to the Media Services area in consultation with the Business Systems Owner and Manager of Digital Media Services
  • Perform Media Services Operator or Lead Media Services Operator duties when needed
  • May require working shifts, weekends, holidays and/or overtime
  • Keep equipment and software in a state of suitable use and available at all times

What you will bring to TVO

  • 2 year Multi Media Design and Development program, New Media program or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years' of relevant experience
  • Understanding of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Experience with AODA Compliance Monitoring Software
  • XML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and/or HTML
  • Experience with video encoding, nonlinear video editing, online video streaming and/or publishing, and Closed Captioning creation software
