    We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 550+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada.

    We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.

    As our new Microclimate Scientist/Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

    Job DescriptionWhether you have a couple years of experience, or are looking for your first professional consulting opportunity, you'll bring curiosity and enthusiasm to learn about how wind and snow interact with our built environment.

    We'll also look to you to bring an eagerness to work on client-facing projects, and a desire to meet SLR's high standards for technical quality and client satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities You will also:



    • Plan and coordinate all technical aspects of assigned projects, with regards to pedestrian wind and snow drifting
    • Conduct analysis for pedestrian wind and snow drifting projects
    • Write technical project reports including the methodology, results and recommendations
    • Work under the general supervision of senior staff with latitude for the exercise of independent judgment
    • Demonstrate an enthusiastic interest in aspects of building design related to microclimate issues

    Qualifications


    • 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting is preferred, however new graduates welcomed to apply
    • Engineering, urban planning, architecture, physical science or related environmental science degree or diploma
    • Eligibility for professional status with a professional organization, or professional designation ( preferred)
    • Demonstrated initiative, independent thinker, independent problem-solving methods/capabilities
    • Working understanding of architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings
    • Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
    • Knowledge of AUTOCAD, SketchUp, REVIT, and QGIS is an asset
    • Knowledge of wind tunnel analysis is an asset
    • Ability to successfully meet and manage numerous project deadlines at once
