We are looking for an Assistant to the Summer Camp Director.

This role will work directly with the Camp Director to ensure the smooth operation of daily life at Collingwood Camps.

This is predominantly an administrative position with some instructing in various programs as an instructor on call.


Date:
June 1- August 9, weeks)

Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)


Hourly Wage:
$20 per hour


Responsibilities:


  • Provide support in planning, scheduling and implementation of all programming
  • Put together staff welcome packages and first aid kits
  • Assist with daily check in and check out
  • Assist with online registration
  • Answer the phone or any inperson parent questions
  • Create class lists with authorized pick up and medical information
  • Track weekly numbers
  • Maintain constant supervision of campers (if/when required)
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are in good working condition and ready for instructors
  • Provide program support if needed
  • Assist with the Volunteer Program scheduling, communication, hours, recognition
  • Participate in lunchroom supervision including help with serving the lunch program
  • Assist with Wacky Wednesday planning and set up
  • Take photos of campers in action for promotion
  • Assist with end of camp clean up duties supply inventory and packing up supplies
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety on campus and during activities for campers and staff.
  • Lead instruct in a variety of programs if someone is absent
  • Other duties as assigned
Required qualifications

  • Min of 19 years of age
  • 12 years of camp experience preferred
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Mature and professional attitude
  • Organized and detailoriented
  • Knowledge and experience instructing children at various age levels, in a camp or classroom setting
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent leadership and problemsolving skills
  • Experience with Google docs / sheets
  • Must be able to attend/complete all staff training opportunities.
  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
  • Willingness to receive and offer constructive feedback, and offer necessary supports
  • Must have transportation to the Wentworth Campus Wentworth Ave, West Vancouver
  • Able to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
  • Able to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid and assist campers in an emergency situation (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury)
  • Must be able to work outdoors for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
