To support this strategic priority, we are looking for a dynamic, customer-centric individual to join our Risk and Compliance team.


The Conduct & Compliance Risk Manager, reporting to the VP of Regulatory Compliance, will support the business in delivering good customer outcomes and manage and mitigate conduct risk within Aviva Canada.

They will be the Risk voice to support the business in implementing the customer-centric culture and strategy by providing influential Risk Opinions focused on the customer and conducting risk.

What you'll do- Support the Regulatory Compliance Management framework to independently assess how Aviva follows its regulatory and customer conduct obligations.- Support Aviva Canada-wide horizon scanning for regulatory and industry developments and prepare and coordinate appropriate mentorship for Conduct & Compliance risk areas. Support the creation of quarterly reports to Compliance & Conduct Committees at management and Board levels.- Build and deliver deep-dive reviews on compliance and conduct-related matters, including understanding and testing compliance and conduct-related controls.- Provide an ongoing opinion on the first-line risk and control assessment information, including Conduct Risk dashboard and customer metrics.- Engage with Senior Management to support early identification of issues and enable management action where appropriate to help maintain effective control and minimize the potential for crystallization of risk events outside tolerance levels.- Lead changes to Aviva Canada's Business Standard & Risk policies as required, maintain addenda and act as a point of contact for Aviva Canada senior management.- Deputize for the VP C&FC at various internal committee meetings and working groups and provide specialist input as required into GFCC submissions.- High-quality risk opinions to EC members to influence and support material business decisions- Uses Conduct & Regulatory Compliance risk knowledge to support compliance with Regulatory requirements.- Completion of deep dives and control testing in areas of compliance and conduct- Builds relevant external professional contacts and a good internal network with Business Units and Group Functions- Demonstrates commercial awareness reflecting both an internal and external perspective- Able to deliver messages effectively through the most appropriate channels (verbal, written, presentation).


What you'll bring- University education- Chartered Insurance Professional designation or equivalent years of meaningful work experience- Ten years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in P&C insurance- Experience in reviewing and testing controls an asset- Experience in dealing with regulatory issues- Experience in underwriting regulated products- Works effectively across business boundaries, collaborating with others to deliver tasks- A deep understanding of the business and the insurance industry, including policy wording, underwriting, claims and governance-related activities- Highly effective oral and written communicator with the gravitas to challenge, negotiate and exert influence over complex matters in a clear, concise, and compelling way.- Analytical skills - the ability to assimilate large amounts of sophisticated information quickly and identify appropriate actions and themes to escalate to stakeholders as appropriate.
