Provide program administration support services in this career building role


The Ministry of Health has overall responsibility for ensuring that quality, appropriate, cost effective and timely health services are available for all British Columbians.

The Health Sector Workforce and Beneficiary Services (HSWBS) division is responsible for health sector workforce planning and development.

The division also oversees operational delivery of beneficiary services that meet patient and population health needs and improve patient outcomes through efficient delivery of health services.

Within the HSWBS, the Labour and Agreements Branch ensures the ministry's interests are addressed in labour negotiations, provincial union and association engagement, and agreement implementation.

The Branch monitors and reports on the progress of health sector health and safety policies and leads work on workplace violence prevention and psychological health and safety.


The Program Assistant provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial, and financial support services for the branch and coordinates the day-to-day priorities of the manager, including providing liaison with ministry executive offices.


Job Requirements:


  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED) and minimum two (2) years experience working in an office setting; OR,
  • Completion of an Office Administration certificate and/or program.
Preference may be given to applicants who have one (1) year cumulative experience with:

  • Typing, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents using MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint) or similar programs.
  • Scheduling events such as meetings, appointments, making travel arrangements.
  • Processing financial transactions.
