We are looking for a qualified Anesthesia Assistant to join our team


As an Anesthesia Assistant you will participate in the care of paediatric patients undergoing general, regional or local anesthetic or procedural sedation under the direct supervision and/or immediate availability of the Anesthesiologist.

Within a collaborative practice agreement, you will assist the Anesthesiologist in the delivery of anesthesia or procedural sedation to the paediatric patient during the pre-, intra-, and immediate postoperative periods of care.


As an Anesthesia Assistant, you are authorized to practice within your respective scope of practice as a regulated health professional (RN or RT) and may perform duties beyond your scope of practice under the authorizing mechanism of medical directives.

You provide exceptional clinical and technical assistance to the Anesthesiologist in order to optimize efficient and safe care of pediatric patients in the OR, Sedation Unit and satellite anesthesia areas such as Diagnostic Imaging and Hematology/Oncology procedure room.

You will also be instrumental in the provision of moderate to deep sedation for procedures throughout the hospital.

  • Engage in critical thinking to assess patient's health status and identify issues in a timely manner to optimize care delivery.
  • Actively participate within the interdisciplinary health care team as a reflective practitioner.
  • Utilize evidencebased practice as a base in the promotion of professional accountability.
  • Provide safe, competent and ethical anesthesia care
  • Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and lifelong learning.

Here's What You'll Need

:


  • Completion of an accredited Anaesthesia Assistant Basic and Advanced Education program including hands on practicum in an affiliated Health Care Center.
  • Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences.
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario or College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pediatric critical care experience or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a perioperative environment an asset.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
