POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To support clients and operate residential facility, through: Clients admissions, intake processing, case triaging, primary support case work, referral and clerical duties.
The work of this position seeks to prevent and eliminate homelessness, while meeting the human needs of vulnerable populations in York Region.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Written and Verbal Communication
- Reporting
- Responsible for reporting monthly PSCW performance statistics
- Fulfilling and communicating all relevant Incident reports, including IIR (Internal reports) to the team, and CIR (critical reports) to supervisory staff.
- Completing daily frontline worker responsibility logs and bed board charts.
- Completing all required aspects of ongoing PEAC performance appraisal and coaching documents
- Case Work/Facility
- Maintaining ongoing responsibility for primary client housingstability planning and housingrelated case work.
- Fulfillment of daily PSCW shift responsibility sheets
- Maintaining personal HIFIS account and using HIFIS system for all aspects client case work.
- Manage contact with professional and agency support staff
- PSCW staff members are responsible for moderate cleaning and upkeep of facilities and resident quarters when property services staff are not on site.
- PSCW staff are responsible to adhere to all tasks and responsibilities as outlined on the Front-Line worker responsibilities shift sheets.
- Perform other duties as required.
MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
- Reports directly to: Program Services Coordinator
- Indirect report to facility Program Director
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Following procedures on donation processing and dropsafe depositing
- Balancing petty cash at each shift change
- Maintaining awareness of all organizational policy on personal finance related to money in the workplace (staff and client).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- PSCW staff members work onsite at Belinda's Place; approximately 95%. On occasion PSCW staff have responsibility to leave premises for work related tasks (housingrelated case work support, client, meeting, training, supplies purchasing, etc), approx. 5%
- PSCW staff members work within the facility building, and outside of the building, onsite.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- College diploma or equivalent postsecondary formal study related to social and/or women related services work. Bachelor of Social Work is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License is an asset
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Experience working with homelessness, mental health and addictions.
- Must have functional knowledge and understanding of women issues related to homelessness, mental health and addictions.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of and a commitment to antiracism, antioppression and equity.
- The responsibilities associated with this position demand a high degree of confidentiality
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Word processing, Desktop Publishing, Spreadsheet/Graphing; Database computer skills are essential
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Must have good interpersonal/time management skills
- Good knowledge of community resources
- Must exhibit strong empathy, understanding and support for all women, including difficulttoserve women, in our service sector.

- We are looking to hire for full time permanent and full time contract overnight caseworkers to work in our emergency shelter program. This position is a unionized position and a starting rate of $20.21 per hour with or without benefits. It is located in a homeless women's shelter in Newmarket. Does this meet your expectations?
- This position will require you to work 12 hours shift on a rotating night shift schedule from 7 pm to 7 am. You will be required to work every other weekend. It is an overnight awake position.
