Accounting Clerk - Ottawa, Canada - People Corporation
Description
We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our Coughlin team in Ottawa.Please note that this is an in-office position.
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accounts payable functions of the company and is responsible to ensure that duties are carried out in such a way as to enable a smooth operation and administration of any associated financial matters pertaining to the company.
The Accounting Clerk is primarily responsible for accounts payable functions and special projects.The Accounting Clerk will:
- Prepare, reconcile, print and mail cheques
- Prepare online banking transactions including bill payments, wires, and electronic fund transfers
- Allocate and code expenses
- Create new vendor codes and distribute to accounting software
- Export, post, and print invoice listings, cheque summary reports, cheque registers, payment posting journals, and any other reports as required
- Prepare audit information
- Match invoices with the precheque register
- Review aged payables on a monthly basis to ensure timely payments are made
- Ensure proper approvals are secured prior to processing/paying invoices, and that the payments are processed within the given due dates
- Ensure that all accounting records are accurate and in balance
- Consult experts or policy manuals to determine the best course of action as required
To be successful as an Accounting Clerk with Coughlin & Associates, you will need:
- Experience with accounting software, such as Sage 50 or other such as QuickBooks
- Practical knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting theories and practices
- Superior data entry skills and strong mathematical and reconciliation skills
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard office administration procedures
- Excellent grammatical, spelling, and communication skills
- The ability to maintain good public relations, both within and outside the organization
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask, and the ability to manage time effectively
- The ability to adhere to existing company policies and procedures
- The ability to use tact and discretion to maintain information in the strictest of confidence
- Experience with accounting software, such as Sage 50 or other such as QuickBooks
