Community/school -social Coordinator - Québec, Canada - PROJET COMMUNAUTAIRE DE PIERREFONDS

Description

• In collaboration with teachers and school administration, conduct student social skills assessments and provide strategies to promote skills in interacting with others.
• Home visits to support parents and provide strategies and tools to assist in the child's academic success.
• School-CommunityFamily liaison (class observations, conferences with school staff and/or nonprofit organization), to discuss progress and identify other needs of the child and family.
• Referrals are made to other community services when necessary.
• Provide social skills training for students.
• Provide parenting skills training.
• Provide family communication skills training.
• Deal with feelings of anxiety, depression, conflict, and anger.
• Deal with students' feelings in a respectful and dignified manner.
• Develop and facilitate social skills workshops that meet the needs of the students and the school.
• Attend staff meetings and provide reports to the school principal and PCP program director.

• Promotion of positive behaviors, support educational interventions related to life code.
• Positive behavior management program.

• Collaborates on activities planned for violence, bullying, and inclusion.
• Collaborates with the psychoeducator.
• Deliver a 10week mental health program in classes.
• Coordinate summer camp during summer
• Coordinate the homework program at the school.

• Cegep Certificate, Bachelor's or Master's degree in special education, social work, or relevant experience.
• Must pass a police check.
• Must love working with children and recently immigrated families.
• Must be able to
  speak and write in French because the position will be filled in a French elementary school.
