- Successful completion of a technician Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a directly related field (eg. Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Gas Processing) or equivalent diploma and experience in operating landfill gas collection, flaring and/or utilization systems (mechanical/control systems) and working with explosive gases.
- Eligible for registration with ASTTBC or equivalent professional organization.
- Certification in the Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) and LFG Operation courses is an asset.
- Good knowledge of regulations and engineering principles/practices relating to municipal solid waste and landfill gas.
- Able to apply Project Management methodologies and tools to scope, procure and oversee projects.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and perform engineering computations.
- Strong communication skills and able to prepare well-written technical reports.
- Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence.

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, you will be working as part of a team responsible for the development and delivery of environmental programs. The role's primary responsibility will be overseeing the operation, maintenance and expansion of the landfill gas system at the Bailey Sanitary Landfill. You will also assist with other solid waste and landfill-related duties.
You will be required to perform well balancing, monitor the performance of the landfill gas collection system and flare, troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise, supervise the work of consultants and contractors, prepare procurement documents and reports, and assist in budgeting and long-term planning.
