    About the role

    As the Director of Legal Claims, you will be a key member of the Ontario Legal Claims management team.

    You will lead a group of Legal Managers and will be one of the Directors responsible for managing the operations of the Legal Claims department in Toronto.

    You will report to the Vice President, Legal Claims, Ontario and work out of the Toronto office.

    You'll also handle many key responsibilities:


    Contribute to the establishment of objectives included in the business plan and implement approaches to achieve regional legal claims goals in line with business strategies and the organization's financial, material and human resources.

    Ensure a high level of employee engagement by continually monitoring overall engagement and creating and executing engagement action plans.

    Develop strategies for controlling indemnity and ALAE & ULAE.

    Assess and address workforce planning needs to maintain service levels and productivity benchmarks.

    Prepare and follow up on operational budgets by setting expense ceilings in line with goals to reach.

    Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and managing key performance indicators relating to productivity.

    Be a liaison for key corporate stakeholders in various departments including National Claims, Finance and Actuarial.


    Build a collaborative approach and savvy business strategy that is aligned with Intact's priorities and promotes great relationships within Claims and Legal Claims.

    Focus on achieving KPI objectives.

    Oversee and audit internal litigation activities and align with best practices and professional standards.

    Build a plan to identify trends in the legal environment.

    Communicate national policies and procedures to the legal team.

    Qualifications

    LL. B or J.D. degree

    Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario

    Minimum 8 years of insurance litigation experience preferred or equivalent relevant experience

    Minimum 5 years of legal management experience preferred or equivalent relevant experience

    Proven project management skills, where you have planned, led, and successfully rolled out projects.

    Experience implementing and driving change by encouraging innovative thinking and changes in an operation.

    Experience in managing people leaders and inspiring a team towards a common goal.


    Experience in establishing and measuring performance, giving open and honest feedback and supporting employee engagement - and ensuring your team leaders do the same.

    You are an inspiring leader who cares for people; is open and honest; takes accountability; and can drive change.

    Positive attitude while adapting to changing priorities and taking ownership of work.

    Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

    Proven experience with successful change management initiatives.
