What can I expect to do in this role?


Reporting to the Production Services Manager, the Production Coordinator will oversee all activities related to the quoting, delivery, and union supervision of production services for sales, events and tenants and the grounds.


  • Supervise, plan and coordinate labour work assignments and the administration of production services to all Exhibition Place building and outdoor events.
  • Participate in production meetings/liaise with Event/Meeting Coordinators, Sales Team, clients, and client AV suppliers, providing staffing, equipment and material requirement expertise pertinent to delivery of services.
  • Analyze/interpret client's technical drawings and equipment lists.
  • Act as Liaison between Exhibition Place Production and third party audio visual suppliers in fostering a positive and productive working relationship.
  • Generate and update estimates for IATSE Labour based on production requirements, including Audio Visual and Broadcast elements for clients of Exhibition Place ensuring compliance with the collective agreement.
  • Prepare production labour quotations for Event/Meeting Coordinators.
  • Provide coaching to union staff on excellence in customer service delivery.
  • Coordinate the asset control program for Board owned equipment and assist with annual review.
  • Ensure all Exhibition Place production equipment inspection programs are conducted, and production equipment is maintained in proper working order.
  • Verify and report time of unionized staff for payroll/client invoicing and review with Production Assistant or manager.
  • Reconcile postproduction labour cost expense and generate show report.
  • Provide facility and property hazard reports and ensure all workplace injury reports are submitted on time and fully completed as related to event requirements and compliance.
  • Conduct safety orientations/toolbox talks as required for workplace safety.
  • Assist in developing workplace policies, practices and procedures and implement.
  • Consult with management on issues related to the IATSE collective agreement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

How do I qualify?

  • Certificate in Facility Management or in another discipline pertinent to the job function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience managing labour issues in a Unionized environment.
  • Extensive experience in facility and event management, preferably in a production event environment.
  • Possess a valid full G Class Ontario driver's license.
  • Extensive experience in supervising staff in an event environment.
  • Experience utilizing software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic mail).
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret collective agreements, applicable codes, standards, guidelines, and government legislation specifically the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, fire safety regulations and building codes.
  • Knowledge of facility management software/programs an asset.
  • Ability to work days, evenings and weekends including holidays, as required to support operational requirements.
