Gain field experience with research and extension

  • Conducting innovative cropping research projects on soil health practices and regenerative agriculture since 201
  • NPARA conducts three field tours and agricultural extension in the growing season, regularly brings in guest speakers to teach field schools and workshops on regenerative agricultural practices.
  • Close to three beautiful provincial country parks: Green Valley, Peace River
Wildland, and Notikewin.

  • NPARA staff will help facilitateroom and board.
The North Peace Applied Research Association

(NPARA) is a non-profit agricultural organization at
Manning, in the Peace River Country of northern

Alberta. Producer driven, NPARA conducts applied agricultural research and extension programs in the
North Peace.

The intern will assist in seeding, maintenance, data collection, sampling, harvest and reporting on all soil health projects, inter-seeding demonstrations, interim and final report preparation and other duties as assigned.


The position is for up to 16 weeks and the start date is May 1st, 2023.
NPARA staff will provide training and assistance to ensure that interns receive a great learning experience.


Salary is $18/hour. Standard work week is 37.5 hours. Flexibility for time off; overtime hours can be banked and used as time in lieu.

Qualifications:

  • Student (Degree or Diploma) in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences or related field.
  • Driven to learn more about field research with various stakeholders (producers, agribusiness, government, and academia).
  • Excellent written and communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Related experience in agricultural research would be an asset.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
