Job Description:

What You'll Be Doing


The Fusion Centre is responsible for protecting our clients and CIBC by holistically combatting threats which cross multiple domains including: the Corporate Security, Information/Cyber Security, and Fraud.

By integrating and analyzing cross-pillar intelligence and data, the Fusion Centre develops a more accurate picture of threats and coordinates protective actions to mitigate threats, reduce loss and better enable our client's ambitions to become a reality.

As part of CIBC's Fusion team, we are looking for someone to manage critical incident response communications to CIBC Senior Executives to improve our leadership's ability to make informed decisions and generate greater understanding of incidents affecting the interests of CIBC.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Fusion Response.

Your exposure and responsibility to work with all fusion teams and CIBC executive leadership will help to increase strong partnerships, support the Fusion value proposition and bring greater awareness of incident management to the organization.


At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

However, incidents sometimes occur at inopportune times, so you must be comfortable working as part of an 24/7 on-call schedule.

How You'll Succeed

  • Effective communications under pressure: You have an ability to distil complex, sometimes ambiguous information into polished and easily consumed communications that resonate with CIBC business executives and Regulatory stakeholders. Your writing style is clear and concise, and you can turn communications out quickly, with mínimal supervision.
  • Partner with relevant teams: Work with Fusion, Information Security, and other business stakeholders to refine the incident communications process. Maintain an understanding of CIBC businesses and products and stay current with key business initiatives to ensure you can communicate relevant risks stemming from incidents and threat intelligence.
  • Innovate and Simplify: Develop communication practices and tools for Fusion stakeholders that will result in a reduction in response time during incident coordination. Develop core Fusion messaging and promotional details for internal and external consumption. Improve and maintain Communication guidance and educate Fusion teams on refining messaging and understanding the needs of core audiences.
  • Own Fusion incident communication frameworks and protocols: Continuously refine Fusion communication frameworks, interaction models, and protocols to provide early notification and ongoing updates to CIBC Executive on Fusion team managed incidents.
  • Be Adaptive and Ready: Understand CIBC response protocols, and be able to perform oncall duties for Fusion incident response during offhours as part of CIBC's incident and event management process.
Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in: Highly developed communication skills, with welldeveloped written and presentation capabilities. You have the ability to convey complex information and concepts in understandable terms within short timelines under pressure. You have a critical eye for detail and can review and proof copy revisions to minimize approval cycles.
  • You act with urgency and deliver effectively under tight timelines: You can operate effectively in highstress situations, maintaining a clear head while all around you are losing theirs. Senior Executives and Regulators have a thirst for information in times of crisis you have the ability to effectively manage those demands throughout the lifecycle of an incident. Meet business objectives by managing relationships and working effectively with internal and external partners including Information Security, Corporate Security, Fraud, and other lines of business, partners, and vendors.
  • You possess excellent organizational skills: including the ability to present options in business terms to both IT and business staff including executives. You are able to work in a fastpaced, operations centre. Capable and available to support incident management in a 24/7 environment.
