    What is the Opportunity?
    Manages a team of corporate action officers responsible for accurate and efficient processing of mandatory events, input of voluntary elections, and tendering and reconciliation with depositories and custodians. Work efforts are focused against overall effectiveness and risk mitigation associated with corporate action team functions to support Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) and Capital Markets (CM) business lines. Responsible for leading and developing staff while ensuring adherence to operational risk issues. Manages identification of continuous improvement opportunities, development of action plans and solution through established metrics and reporting processes.What will you do:
  • Oversee processing of all mandatory corporate actions within CWM and CM client accounts ensuring accurate entries based on payment from depository.
  • Oversee receipt of elections for voluntary corporate events through workflow systems and processing of instructions in Broadridge reorg system in a timely and effective manner to mitigate market exposure.
  • Oversee publishing of all voluntary corporate actions to DSNet, ensuring that information being published is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Assist with secondary review and/or final sign off of voluntary corporate action announcements to ensure publishing accuracy.
  • Effectively manage inquiries and escalations from corporate action processing team members, retail branches, CM trading desks, business partners, depositories or custodians, and other financial institutions to resolve a variety of issues associated with corporate action event processing.
  • Review exceptions to standard processing to ensure overall compliance with regulations, firm policies, and accepted business practices
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness for tendering of voluntary corporate action elections with depositories; monitor subsequent receipt of payment from depositories and efficient and accurate payment to client accounts.
  • Daily monitoring of corporate action control accounts to ensure reconciliation breaks or issues are resolved effectively in a timely manner to mitigate inherent market risk; Complete associated monthly general ledger attestation.
  • Participate as subject matter expert in projects and initiatives related to corporate action functions as required.
  • Drive ongoing review of departmental processes and internal controls to facilitate efficiency and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee internal and external audit
  • Provide training, coaching, recognition and development for the team members, fostering teamwork and planning for succession
  • Provide support with department volume metrics, staffing models, financial forecasts, and budgets as required
  • What do you need to succeed?
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and people management abilities
  • Thorough understanding and experience with various corporate action events and processes.
  • Strong understanding of functions of departments within Wealth Management Canada Operations (WMCO), wealth management and capital markets lines of business.
  • Require a working knowledge of financial industry and instruments.
  • Able to operate effectively in a fast paced, high-risk environment and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
