The Opportunity

The Role:

Support SAIT's Mission - 10%:
- Integrate a vision, strategy and implementation plan for Open Studies in alignment with SAIT's 5-year strategic plan
- Intentional Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) focused decision making
- Demonstrate excellent employee leadership, while focusing on skill development and opportunities for advancement
- Collaborate across Academic Services to ensure programming and delivery meet the required needs of learners
- Support program initiatives according to SAIT's Academic, Education and Strategic plans
- Support SAIT's Academic Quality Review process
- Assign teaching loads in alignment with instructor competencies and the collective agreement.
- Collaborate with Employee Services on ensuring efficient hiring and payment of contract faculty
- Recruit, onboard, train, and support new faculty and staff for all delivery modalities
- Provide ongoing guidance and support for new and existing adjunct faculty
- Promote employee engagement and collaboration, and provide opportunities for professional development.
- Review and uphold policies and procedures including the student code of conduct with Instructors as well as SAIT's Collective Agreements
- Work collaboratively with advising teams to ensure a quality student experience
- Champion a student first culture by being available and visible to students, faculty and staff on an ongoing basis
- Create strategies in support of positive student engagement, recruitment, and retention
- Optimize student experience through review and management of student feedback questionnaires and respond to student concerns and issues in a timely manner
- Conduct academic integrity hearings and educate students on best practices
- 25%**:
- Determine courses and number of sections offered based on trends and other forms of data
- Oversee the work of the Program Administrator with regards to development of a yearly tracking sheet and entering courses into the scheduling system
- Collaborate with Academic Services Academic Chairs and career program Academic Chairs to ensure sustainable growth of Open Studies course offerings
- Provide regular updates to our financial support partners on progress towards enrolment targets
- **Marketing - 20%**:
- Attend Career Fair, SAIT Open houses to market and educate about Open Studies
- Work with Marketing and Communications to ensure accurate information is conveyed to the public
- Along with Advisor, Open Studies, sets up and participates in Orientation and Information sessions etc
- Strategize with Marketing and Communications to create promotional opportunities for Open Studies
- Employ innovative and entrepreneurial skills to facilitate sustainable growth of the Open Studies program
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent education
- Two years of leadership experience in postsecondary, adult education, service industry, or combination of the three areas (three years is preferred)
- Solid written, spoken, and interpersonal communications skills plus the ability to work well both independently and in teams
- **Preferred**:
- Teaching experience is considered an asset
- A combination of qualifications and experience may be considered
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends, on occasion
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must possess a serviceoriented mindset with exceptional attention to quality and client satisfaction
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and time management
- Must have a critical thinking and problemsolving mindset
- Demonstrated experience in managing budget and making sustainable business decisions
- Demonstrated leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion practices
- Strong leadership skills, highly empathetic to the feelings of others and ability to provide feedback
