The Traffic Engineering branch enhances the safety and efficiency of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the provincial highway network by providing specialized traffic, operations, engineering support, standards and data.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must hold a valid Electrician interprovincial red seal (Journeyman H, HI, HC license) or a Limited Construction Electrician (J license).
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 license, and successfully obtain a class 3 license with airbrake endorsement within 12 months of employment with provided training.
- Must be able to travel throughout Manitoba for up to two weeks at a time, and be on call 24 hours per day for one week on a rotating basis.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions within Manitoba, wear Personal Protective Equipment, work on raised platforms up to 15 meters, and confined spaces, in high traffic environments and at times work alone.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 lbs.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience with troubleshooting procedures using specialized electrical test equipment and tools.
- Experience in interpreting electrical blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge of the various acts, regulations, and codes governing electrical work in Manitoba.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Effective Interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team.
- Experience working with MS Office, and other computer programs.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
Duties:
Reporting to the Senior Traffic Signals Technician, this position is responsible for carrying out the preventative and emergency maintenance programs and to install, maintain, and modify various electrical systems and traffic control devices.
