    Description

    The Project Accountant is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects and managing all accounting and financial activities relating to Silent-Aire's projects. The Project Accountant, working closely with the director of Operations, provides financial analysis, cost model management, analysis on changes that affect prices, and profitability of products.

    Responsibilities

    • Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services related to billing.
    • Participate in budget development of proposed projects to ensure consistent and optimal project budget development.
    • Responsible for ensuring development and maintenance of monthly cash flow forecasting for all projects.
    • Develop and maintain a structured process to ensure reports are adequately reviewed and approved, and all transactions follow internal policies and procedures, regulations, and accounting principles.
    • Develops enhanced project management financial reports to assist project management, including burn rates, provision of regularly updated cash flow forecasts for projects, and development of methods to report financial program metrics.
    • Ensures all financial activities and requirements relating to project close-outs are carried out in a timely manner.
    • Prepare cost estimates of products and/or services to establish pricing and production/sales forecasts.
    • Calculate burden rates, set up expense budgets for production, allocate costs between the various projects and categorize costs into wages, material, and overhead, and service departments per project.
    • Perform all aspects of cost accounting on projects including the preparation, review, and analysis of product inventory costing, standard costing, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
    • Analyze operating variances, strategic sourcing opportunities, and logistics expenditures and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Develop and maintain cost analysis tools for efficiency and labour costs, and tracking systems.
    • Provide real time costing on all projects during the manufacturing and commissioning process.
    • Provide Proforma Invoicing, trending data, and job projections forecasts.
    • Provide for the development of ROI and contract strategies.
    • Perform month end process for cost accounting.
    • Conduct end of Job financial reconciliation.
    • Provide for the system and process enhancements to generate accurate cost accounting information.
    • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller to synchronize financial data and ensure consistency with values.
    • Provide for the periodic financial planning cycles supporting the Operations and Finance departments.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in project accounting.
    • Experience in the manufacturing or construction industry preferred.
    • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
    • Strong analytical skills and an attention to detail required. High degree of initiative and flexibility required to successfully accommodate deadlines.
    • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

    • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
    • Occasional travel may be required.
