About us


Safety Services Nova Scotia, a non profit association and leader in providing safety services is seeking to hire a Human Resources Generalist to manage a variety of programs/services and to manage the people that provide them.

We are about delivering exceptional client experiences and quality safety services.


  • To develop promotional material for internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the need, effectiveness of recruitment implementation.
  • Ensure effective & current position descriptions are in place.
  • To promote employment & career opportunities using all social media streams possible.
  • Prepare all internet advertisements, ensuring that our notice boards are updated consistently to reflect our recruitment needs.
  • Contact applicant for screening interview and to schedule face-to-face interview. Update the interview results with Managers.
  • Manage employee exit strategies in alignment with CEO approval.

Administration_


  • Administrative duties and record keeping.
  • Management of Benefits, Sick Time, Vacation & EFAP
  • Performance Management
  • WCB Management as required.
  • Conduct employment references and add results into the interview package
  • Employee Relations
  • Generate Employee File for all new arrivals, ensuring all required components are intact.
  • Fully conversant and compliant with emergency response standards & security procedures and to report on all incidents, accidents, near misses and safety hazards.
  • Knowledge of Labour Laws, Human Rights, OH&S Act.
  • Ensure a sound administrative framework is in place in all areas of responsibility, including policy, process and reporting.
  • To develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the delivered services of Safety Services Nova Scotia.

Training_


  • Participate in on-boarding / orientation and training programs to support new hires.

Track and promote requires training:
first aid / WHMIS / etc.

Communication_


  • To utilize internal notice boards for communication and current activities.
  • Spend time with all Departments to understand expectations, staffing and training requirements.
  • To effectively respond to all reasonable additional assignments / requests as determined by President & CEO

Job Type:
Part-time


Pay:
$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

  • Human resources: 5 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • CPHR (required)
