    Job Profile

    Reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities Operations, we are looking for two (2) temporary Building Attendants whose role will provide general assistance during summer months when workloads are heavier with the operation of outdoor pools. The role will assist in opening pool procedures during May and June and conduct daily operations tasks at outdoor pools on a daily basis, including pool chemistry checks and daily cleaning tasks. This position will also assist the Building Operations Assistant position in completing work orders, including general maintenance assistance, moving furniture and program equipment to support recreation day programs and event set-ups and property clean-up.

    What you will be doing

    • Complete pool systems check and light maintenance on pool systems in outdoor pools
    • Complete cleaning within outdoor pool buildings
    • Assist Building Operations Assistants with day to day maintenance in all Corporate buildings
    • Building walk throughs of non-aquatic facilities to ensure building is operational
    • Open outdoor pools - cleaning pool basin, cleaning outdoor pool facilities, light maintenance on outdoor pool decks, light maintenance on property and within building (i.e. landscaping, painting)

    Education

    Grade 12 OSS Diploma or equivalent

    Experience and Knowledge

    • Up to three (3) months of previously related experience
    • Certified Pool Operator Certificate (2-day course) is an asset
    • Understanding of Ontario Regulation 565: Public Pools
    • Experience and working knowledge in pool water chemistry
    • Ability to complete pool operations tasks
    • Experience with general maintenance duties
    • Basic computer knowledge is a definite asset i.e. Microsoft Office

    Your compensation

    This CUPE 1882 union position's current rate of pay is $20.88 to $22.19 per hour.

    Hours of work

    This position requires shift work on both weekdays and weekends working 35 hours per week with rotating shifts, including days (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), afternoons (2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) and weekends in accordance with the collective agreement. Overtime will be scheduled in accordance with the collective agreement.
