Description

• A Diploma in Nursing, as well as a certificate of competence as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario _AND _Current CPR certification.

• Under the direction of the Director of Care and Registered Nurse, ensure that the appropriate requirements of The Nursing Homes Act and Regulation, Long Term Care Program Standards, Canadian Council on Health Service Accreditation Standard and other pertinent legislated standards and requirements are implemented within the nursing department.

Train, supervise, and assist in the evaluation of performance of non-registered nursing staff with guidance from the Director of Care and Registered Nurse.

Document and sign details of any personnel issues and submit to the Director of Care or her designate; initiate disciplinary action when necessary in accordance with home policy and procedure; re-instruct employees in acceptable conduct and or performance.

Perform professional responsibilities and demonstrate conduct in accordance with the Standards of Practice established by the Ontario college of Nurses of Ontario; perform duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of the home.

Dispense medications and provide direct nursing care and treatments as instructed by the Director of Care and Registered Nurse, consult with the Registered Nurse as required by policy and procedure.

Monitor the provision of care by all staff in the department in accordance with the physicians' orders and the established plan of care; Ensure that accurate and complete documentation of nursing observations and resident care is maintained.

Proof of eligibility for permanent roles may come in the form of a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship certificate, permanent residence card, or Confirmation of Permanent Residence document.
