POSITION OVERVIEW
As a chemist / laboratory technician, you will be responsible for quality assurance and quality control of production. You will also be in charge of the management, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. You will be responsible for issuing certificates of analysis for clients. Based on instructions from the Laboratory manager, you will prepare new prototypes and monitor their stability over time.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Quality control of the products manufactured and if necessary, indicate to the production operators the necessary adjustments. Record this data.
  • Perform quality control of raw materials and inform those responsible of the results.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks: quality control, water analysis, production documents returned to the laboratory.
  • Know the Ecologo requirements, obtain the requirements from UL, check that products meet all the criteria and find out about the efficiency tests needed.
  • Bacterial control, using test kits, of certain manufactured products and raw materials as well as certain production equipment.
  • Control of wastewater before discharge in accordance with municipal regulations. Record this data.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments to established frequencies. Report any problems to the Director of the laboratory.
  • Responsible for inventories of reagents and test kits used in the laboratory and notifying the Laboratory manager when an order is to be issued.
  • Prepare certificates of analysis of manufactured products and send them to customers.
  • Be responsible for carrying out audits of the quality system every three months as well as those concerning bacterial tests. Write reports and recommendations to the Director of the laboratory and to Management.
  • Conduct laboratory tests required by other departments.
  • Prepare new prototypes at the request of the Laboratory manager and conduct and follow up on necessary stability tests. Record this data.
  • Evaluate new raw materials and write reports.
  • Take care of the reception and storage of samples of raw materials received as well as the hygiene and cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Keep a record of workplace health and safety incidents and accidents.
  • Prepare technical reports and other duties as requested by the Laboratory manager.
  • Perform all other related tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

Technical Skills and Experience:


  • 12 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS classification, transport of dangerous goods.
  • Familiarity with ECOLOGO and KOSHER certifications.
  • Familiarity with a quality system would be an asset.
