Who are we looking for?

Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of Programs, this position is responsible for the successful leadership and direct supervision of the Rockwood Early Learning Centre; including all program rooms, center staff and students/volunteers.

The Supervisor will mentor staff in developing and facilitating emergent curriculum based on the Pedagogy:

How Does Learning Happen and exemplify the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice laid out by the College of Early Childhood Educators.


Early Learning Childcare Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Providing hands on leadership to all staff and assisting them with effective implementation of Emergent curriculum in accordance with directives and guidelines outlined by How Does Learning Happen and expectations set by Eramosa Learning Academy.
  • Enhancing and ensuring a positive, inclusive and supportive childcare environment in line with our Culture Statement.
  • Developing, maintaining and nurturing relationships with families, children, staff and other parties (such as Wellington County Resource Consultants, Kids Ability and Canadian Mental Health Association, as well as the Ministry of Education Program Advisor).
  • Ensuring the Early Learning Centre consistently meets or exceeds CCEYA and Public Health requirements.
  • Maintaining children and staff records as required by Ministry and Eramosa Learning Academy's Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation and organization of files and observations as required by Ministry of Education Child Care Licensing, and as outlined in ELA's Monitoring of Compliance and Contraventions policies.
  • Preparing and organizing staff meetings
  • Managing the shadowing, training and mentoring of new staff.
  • Organizing supply coverage for daily absences
  • Providing mentorship and support to all staff and ensuring smooth and effective implementation of program.
  • Coordinating events such as the fall and spring ELC open house.
  • Contributing information and pictures for the monthly newsletter, social media and advocating a positive online presence.
  • Overseeing inventory and ensuring essential classroom supplies and materials are adequately stocked at all times.
  • Overseeing Program toy and equipment inventory is accounted for, maintained, rotated and exchanged through the ELA Resource program.
  • Engaging parents in the child care centre by communication, surveys and asking for feedback in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Responding to parent questions, concerns and requests, in a manner that aligns with ELA's philosophy, program statement implementation and core values.
  • Organizing centre tours with new families.
  • Communicating daily with the executive team regarding facilities, enrolment, program quality and pedagogy.

  • Working knowledge of How Does Learning Happen and all foundational documents.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum 3 years experience i
