    Description

    You as an Estimator will:

  • Support a team through the completion of a bid process for building projects
  • Assemble accurate, wholesome, timely, and well-organized estimates, including lump sum, unit rate, construction management, and design-build pursuits
  • Work on multiple bids simultaneously, when required, and not sacrifice the integrity of the bid due to workload
  • Organize and "bid level" sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting Project Managers in the buy-out process
  • Be responsible for completing project-specific general accounts for various project types and complexities
  • Be responsible for pricing out various projects based on previous historical rates and productivity
  • Focus on building relationships with sub-trades and owners for future opportunities
  • Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern, and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
  • Maintain historical databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference
  • Is this the right role for you?

  • You have a construction-related degree/diploma and a minimum of 5 years of experience in ICI (Industrial, Commercial and Institutional) estimating or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • Ability to use Cost X, Excel, Building Connected, Bluebeam is an asset
  • You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
  • Estimating experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts is essential
  • You have experience in completing own forces estimates including but not limited to selective demolition, rough carpentry and concrete and formwork
  • You work well in a team environment with strong personal values that align with EllisDon's core values
  • You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team
  • Be comfortable working autonomously, while providing updates when needed, and following EllisDon procedures at all times
  • Experience with manufacturing facility construction is an asset
  • You have a strong understanding of construction beyond estimating including scheduling, project management, risk assessment, constructability and market conditions
