Status of Position:35 hours per week replacement until June 30, 2024


Salary Scale:
$49,456 to $92,027

NATURE OF THE WORK

The pedagogical consultant in special education provides leadership and support to school teams working with at-risk students with MEQ difficulty codes in an inclusive environment and/or a more specialized environment.


In addition, you will be required to:

  • Support the transition of students with special learning needs from elementary school to secondary school and from secondary school to adult education and/or community living;
  • Support the IEP process;
  • Work closely with elementary and secondary schools in the development of adaptations and modification of instructional levels required for evaluation and reporting procedures for students with special learning needs;
  • Support the schools in the implementation of Special Education Procedures;
  • Collaborate with Administration Centre and inschool professionals in providing support for atrisk students and students with MEQ difficulty codes;
  • Develop authentic assessment tools, appropriate for students with special learning needs, with teams of teachers in the spirit of the Québec Education Program;
  • Ensure, as the resource person, that support is available for those requiring assistance in the understanding and teaching of students with special learning needs;
  • Liaise with external schools with which the school board has established a partnership for the placement of students with special learning needs;
  • Support the development and implementation of Professional Learning Communities.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A permanent teaching diploma (brevet d'enseignement) issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation (MEQ) or a Bachelor"s degree in Child Studies or another relevant field;
  • A mastery of the English language and the ability to function effectively in French;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience;
  • Good knowledge of technology to promote the programs, activities and services offered (asset);
  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Training and/or Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Training (asset);
