    Senior Mechanical Engineer – Amico Mobility Solutions

    Location: Richmond Hill, ON

    Full Job Description:

    1. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the product development team of engineers and designers to work on new product developments and product improvement initiatives.
    2. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be recognized as the subject matter expert, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
    3. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be required to manage large projects or processes with limited oversight.

    Responsibilities include one or more of the following:

    1. Translate customer requirements into design documents and contributes to design decisions
    2. Develop and implement new processes and standards
    3. Design new parts or assemblies for use in new or current products
    4. Create 3D part files, manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings
    5. Improve the design of existing parts to improve manufacturability, reliability or reduce cost where required
    6. Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis of designs
    7. Conduct a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) of designs and processes as part of risk management
    8. Create and maintain technical/regulatory documentation (design master records & design history files) for new products and design changes
    9. Develop verification & validation plans and conduct product verification/validation testing
    10. Lead design reviews for new parts and products when required
    11. Build and test prototypes to ensure all essential design requirements are met
    12. Identify, analyze, and correct product, manufacturing, or process issues
    13. Interface with customers, suppliers, and other teams
    14. Coaches, reviews, and delegates the work of lower-level professionals
    15. Assist in with any other duties as required by the Engineering Manager

    4. Able to lead other engineers/developers in a design/development project
    5. Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level professionals
    6. Self-motivated and have a hands-on approach
    7. Strong oral and written communication skills
    8. Able to work independently within in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment with limited oversight from manager
    9. Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines; results-focus
    10. Sound decision making and judgment capabilities
    11. Able to adapt to changes quickly in a fast-pace work environment

    Education & Experience Requirements:

    1. University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, P.Eng. status is required
    2. 7+ years of proven working experience in mechanical design, preferably in the area of medical device manufacturing or instrumentation
    3. Proven experience in designing mechanical components or assemblies from concept to manufacturing
    4. Proficient in 3D solid modeling CAD (preferably SolidWorks 2017 or above) and detailing
    5. Good understanding of the design process an asset
    6. Exposure to ISO quality systems (ISO 9001 or ISO and manufacturing environment an asset
    7. Working knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T an asset
    8. Working knowledge of plastic injection moulding an asset
    9. Working knowledge of jig & fixture design an asset
    10. Basic understanding of electronics an asset
