Special Needs Educator


Phoenix Development Centre is looking for a committed, caring and experienced Special Needs Educator to work with
adolescents and their families within the GTA.

This is a part-time employee position that may lead to a full-time position.

Work hours are available from Monday to Saturday.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

The Special Needs Educator will:

  • Facilitate engaging onetoone learning sessions
    (in person) for adolescents with autism, learning and other developmental disabilities in the clients' homes and in the community.
  • Facilitate caregivermediated intervention and parent training.
  • Utilize the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to teach daily living, cognitive fucntions, communication, self regulation, and vocational skills.
  • Participate in clientrelated meetings.
  • Collect and manage client data under the supervision of the program supervisor.
  • Conduct skills assessments.
  • Update & maintain clients' electronic binders.
  • Utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices.
  • Work independently while being part of a team.
  • Have reliable attendance.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


Required:


  • A minimum of
    1 year* experience working with children/adolescents with special needs in clinic, school or homebased settings utilizing the principles of ABA.
  • Experience in various data collection systems, managing clients' learning binders and management of problem behaviours.
  • Degree/Diploma in psychology or related field, OR diploma in behavioural sciences
  • Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check or the ability to obtain one.

Rate of Pay:
$23-$27.
