ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

- Performing general accounting functions including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, purchasing and expense report review and other duties as assigned
- Assisting with month end closing including various working paper preparation and reviews
- Preparing multientity corporate reports, consolidation, and financial statements
- Assisting with monthly investigation and narrative analysis of significant financial variances
- Coordinating yearend audit processes and assisting auditors by ensuring proper working papers and supporting documentation are provided
- Researching and recommending 'best practices' processes to improve overall operational efficiencies
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls, assuring integrity of databases and information reported, and oversight of General Accounting including Accounts Receivable/Payable
- Being willing and able to support/step in and work through any financial task within the department
- Participating in changes in implementation /upgrade of corporate accounting systems, forms and documentation
- Providing backup support for the Controller during vacation periods
- Motivating, leading and coaching accounting team members
- Other projects and assignments delegated by the Controller
Key qualifications would include:
- CA, CMA or CGA designation
- 57 years advanced accounting experience
- Compelling analytical
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar accounting software
- Ability to meet changing priorities in a fastpaced environment, multitask and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication/presentation skills

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Toronto, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
