The Universal Group has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Payroll, the Payroll Administrator uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations and collective agreements.

The Role


As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for conducting payroll and accounting transactions in an efficient, accurate & timely manner.

Along with performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information and processing paperwork, you will be ensuring all compliance is met by following our policies and procedures.


What you will do:


  • Process timely and accurate payroll for employees
  • Collect, verify and enter data into QuickBooks
  • Review timesheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
  • Provide information on payroll matters, benefit deductions and collective agreement provisions
  • Compile, review and monitor statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts.
  • Prepare and balance periodend reports and reconcile payroll items i.e. union dues, garnishments etc.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Provide feedback and assist in implementation of payroll policies, procedures to make payroll processes more efficient
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as yearend tax statements, pension, Records of Employment and other statements
  • Manage garnishments, monthly union reports and quarterly payroll tax reports
  • Keep track of leave time, such as vacation, personal and sick leave for employees
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans and collective agreement provisions
  • Play a vital role in the implementation of UKG

Qualifications

  • Payroll experience 12 years (PCP preferred)
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Postsecondary training an asset
  • Experience with payroll software/systems and general proficiency with microsoft Windows (Excel, Word)
  • Attention to detail & accuracy
