We are currently seeking a self-motivated
Materials Manager to fill a position that will be based in our
North Bay, Ontario Manufacturing Facility.

This position is a full-time role and hours of work will be 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

The Global Drilling Services division operates for a diverse mining customer base with drilling methods including diamond coring exploration, reverse circulation, large diameter rotary, mine dewatering, water supply drilling, pump services, production, and sonic drilling services.


The Geological Data Services division utilizes innovative scanning technology and down-hole instrumentation tools to capture detailed geological data from drilled core and chip samples.

This valuable orebody knowledge gives mining companies the ability to make timely decisions for more efficient exploration activities.


The Global Products division offers sophisticated research and development and holds hundreds of patented designs to manufacture, market, and service reliable drill rigs, innovative drill string products, rugged performance tooling, durable drilling consumables, and quality parts for customers worldwide.


Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
Oversee and manage employees responsible for scheduling and shipping, MRO and inventory purchasing.

Tasks include (but not limited to):

  • Follow up on shipping claims and reporting.
  • Manage and ensure timely return to vendor transactions with quality.
  • Ensure shipping transactions are occurring daily and inventory properly reflects actual state.
  • Manage MRO contracts and buying (employee clothing, shipping supplies, general supplies, perishable tools etc.)
  • Monthly spend accrual review with Manufacturing Costing Analyst.
  • Work on cost saving measures in all areas of shipping and scheduling and buying.
Responsible for the planning and scheduling of Rod & Casing and the overall management of the cost center.

Tasks include (but not limited to):

  • Backlog burndown planning.
  • Raw material management.
  • Production schedule management.
  • Operator / employee requirements to fulfill backlog.
  • Cost management and organization.
  • Logistics and material movement management
Inventory planning and material management.

Tasks include (but not limited to):

  • Responsible for managing and running physical inventories.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory discrepancies as required.
  • Monitor and resolve negative inventories, In Transit and Rcvg Values on an ongoing basis.
  • Complete and fix issues pertaining to problems identified by Costing Analyst (work orders not issued, vendor pricing adjustments etc.).
  • Work order management and NCR (scrap recording, quality inventory, returns etc.)

Job Requirements:


  • Strong communication skills written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work in accordance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Proven experience prioritizing and managing multiple assignments concurrently, performing well under pressure, and meeting deadlines, while ensuring acute attention to detail and accuracy.

Education and Experience:


  • 35 years directly related experience.
  • 35 years supervising experience
  • Typically requires a postsecondary diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 12 years related experience.

Reporting Relationship
The position reports directly to the Plant Manager, who is located in North Bay, Ontario.
