Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? The NSDF Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the Quality Management System (QMS) is fully implemented in an organized and efficient manner.

This position will provide QA support to projects, during all phases of a project from design, construction/commissioning, as well as perform audits/surveillance and assessment activities, on behalf of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories for suppliers of goods and services to the NSDF project.

What will you be doing

  • Advising on quality codes and standards as applied to projects and facility operation;
  • Ensuring products or services being procured by CNL for quality program work are procured from qualified suppliers who have the ability to deliver a technically acceptable product or service;
  • Completing bidevaluations on supplier proposals against quality requirements;
  • Reviewing adequacy and effectiveness of vendor/customer corrective action plans in response to audit/assessment/surveillance findings
  • Assigning roles in planning, executing and reporting of qualityrelated surveillance activities on behalf of CNL
  • Providing facilitation and training in surveillance
  • Identifying and reporting conditions adverse to quality to ensure the timely resolution of qualityrelated issues;
  • Facilitating the completion of corrective actions by project and supplier responsible leaders including nonconforming items;
  • Supports the Corrective Action Program by providing leadership and/or support of continual quality improvement initiatives, including performance of Apparent Cause Assessment (ACA) and or Root Cause Assessment (RCA)

What we are looking for:


  • Must have a minimum of 1015 years of related experience
  • Prior (510 years) work experience in Quality Management in civil construction.
  • Extensive professionallevel experience related to the management and control of compliance auditing.
  • Major experience in core quality business operations such as riskbased audit planning, implementation and reporting, internal compliance.
  • Experience in people management, specifically training, motivating, and directing employees.
  • Experience leading and coaching and negotiating with teams and superiors.
  • Experience in leading organizational transformations and change management activities.
  • Experience in quality audits and selfassessments.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, troubleshooting, and escalating issues effectively.
  • Significant related engineering work experience.
  • Significant related experience in a field of specialization related to manufacturing and fabrication.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate activities of self and others to achieve individual/department targets.
  • Proven ability to thrive as a member of a large, matrix organization working collaboratively with peers, staff and superiors to achieve objectives in an environment characterized by frequent deadlines, competing demands, and customer scrutiny.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and manage quality resources to realize their potential.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop wellinformed advice and strategies that are sensitive to the various needs of multiple stakeholders and partners, reflecting the strategic direction of CNL and positioning CNL for success.
  • Thorough knowledge of Project Quality Management Systems, work instructions and procedures.
  • Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related degree.
  • Experience with major civil construction projects is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following qualityrelated requirements: CSA N28612, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, CSA N299, CSA N286.7, CSA B51, IEC 61513, and ASME NQA
  • Advanced understanding of factors within a multifaceted organization (nuclear, nonnuclear, research) and the impact of the Company's Functional Requirements in support of performance excellence.
  • Qualityapplied Certificates/Certifications: ASQ, CQA, CSQP, IRCA, Exemplar Global affiliation and certifications
  • Advanced experience working within local jurisdictional and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience managing a team of several quality inspectors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines and under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
