The Department of Consumer Protection and Government Services supports and protects the interests of Manitoba consumers, citizens, businesspeople, landlords, and tenants.

Government Services is responsible for the modernization of government services including procurement, Information Technology (IT), and capital planning, project delivery, and asset management for government's vertical and underground infrastructure.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's license.
  • Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal record check, Child Abuse Check, Adult Abuse Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Must be able to perform the physical duties of the position including; sitting, standing, crouching, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather.
  • Must possess Certified Safety Auditor, Construction Safety Officer or Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation. Must be able to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Internal Screening.

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Postsecondary education in facility operations and maintenance, technical trades or occupational safety. A combination of experience and training may be considered.
  • Experience working with Safety Committees and facilitating training
  • Experience performing formal safety program audits.
  • Experience conducting/coordinating serious incident investigations.
  • Experience working independently and displaying initiative.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.

Desired:


  • Supervisory experience providing direction, leadership, managing assignments and workflow to a team.

Duties:


The Divisional Occupational Safety and Risk Coordinator is responsible for providing technical expertise, consultative services and monitoring the safety performance of the Division and Branch's core workplace safety programs and operational procedures to ensure the Division is in compliance with The Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act W210, Manitoba Regulation 217 and other related regulations.

Working closely with Safety/Training Facilitators, District Safety Coordinators, Safety Committees and Program Managers, the Coordinator is responsible for creation and monitoring of the Division's safety program and policies, developing operational hazard assessment templates and procedures, facilitating and conducting hazard assessments and assisting with the development and incorporation of safe work practices and procedures into the Department's operational activities, services, policies and procedures.
