    What you will do:

    Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Job Developer (JD) provides job placement and job retention services to internationally trained professionals in the bridging programs who face challenges in accessing relevant employment in their field, due to barriers such as, lack of knowledge related to the Canadian workplace culture, English as a second language, lack of Canadian work experience and awareness of the specific technology used in their field in Canada, having had no exposure to work in Canada. The JD assists program clients in targeting suitable employment based on their experience and education.The JD conducts ongoing research on employers, resources and programs to identify existing job leads; reaches out to employers and develops relationships with them to create job leads; and organizes networking and hiring events to help secure employment for the program clients. The JD, who provides occupation specific employment services, works collaboratively with the program team, including the employment advisor, who provides pre-employment services and the Project Coordinator to ensure that clients receive the services that reflect their needs, abilities, and employment goals in a continuous quality improvement environment. The JD creates, updates, and maintains employer databases, files, and client case notes; and enters and maintains accurate information about clients in case management systems. This role requires the incumbent to travel to employers, and so a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is necessary. Some evening and weekend work may also be required for job fairs, alumni, and other special events.

    Qualifications

    What you bring to the role:

    Education

    A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent Career and Work Counselling, Human Resources (recruitment), Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, Social Work, or related field.

    Experience & Skills

    A minimum of 3 years' experience in job development, human resources recruitment and job placement and a proven track record of success working with newcomers to Canada who are internationally trained immigrants.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, teambuilding, adaptability, organizational skills, occupation specific/labor market research and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness of cultural diversity, settlement and integration issues pertaining to newcomers to Canada.
  • Proven commitment to customer and community service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability with Office software, e-mail, remote communications/collaboration (MS Teams, Zoom, various multimedia tools / platforms for presentations, virtual meetings), record keeping/report generating applications on the web, and information systems.
  • Knowledge of the Engineering/Architecture sector is an asset.
