Overview:


The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for safe implementation and effective management of Quality Control and operational support for production and shipping of concrete ready mix and aggregate products.

The primary objective of the Quality Control Coordinator is to ensure quality and consistency of the concrete and aggregate products, in addition to solving any issues that arise and quickly and safely dealing with the situation at hand.

Area covered shall include primarily all Northwestern-Ontario RMX and Aggregate operations, as well as general support and cooperation with the other Northern Ontario operations.

This is a full time salaried position.


Responsibilities:


Health & Safety:


  • Implementation of Lafarge Safety Policies, and compliance with government legislation.
  • Coordinate relevant safety training for any staff/technicians/students being overseen.
  • Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Lafarge operations.

Environment:


  • Establish the environment as a priority in daily activities and act as a steward to the environment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to meet or exceed environmental compliance.

Support to Operations:


  • Ensure the Quality plan for materials produced and shipped is applied and enforced across local area.
  • Ensure timely entry of all testing results in QC software/database as well as aggregate order processing is up to date in database.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is updated according to Quality Plan.
  • Analyze testing results and share with relevant teams to ensure our products comply with specifications.
  • Travel to and from various concrete RMX plants to provide assistance with batching, material testing, or other operational duties.
  • Provide technical expertise and work alongside Operations teams to ensure product performance through accurate batching using available tools and protocols to maintain and minimize deviations.
  • Coordinate and implement production adjustments as needed.
  • Support administrative and analytical staff through SAP item uploads and setup, sales ticket codes and workflow errors.
  • Troubleshoot plant operational and quality issues.
  • Conduct frequent job site and plant visits as part of monitoring protocols and provide expert customer support both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate required tracking and testing protocols with Operations to ensure production staff is aligned and keeping up with requirements.

Control:


  • Support development, management, and optimization of products in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications.
  • Implement Lafarge quality program, including conducting sampling of concrete and aggregates, testing of plastic concrete air content, slump, temperature, casting of concrete test cylinders, conducting trials, reviewing specifications, record keeping and reporting thereof.
  • Obtain and maintain valid ACI Field Testing Technician Certification Monitor and enforce testing KPI's with regards to Quality commitments, with particular focus to mining operations targets and aggregate shipping tonnage.
  • Manage and lead Quality Incident investigation process, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
  • Generate KPI, Quality Incident Report (QIR) and performance reports and perform analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with Sales, Operations and Customer Support teams.
  • Provide Customer support by visiting customer job sites for testing and technical troubleshooting.
  • Assist in administrative activities and ensure all documentation is updated in order to maintain Concrete Ontario Certification.
  • Support the Sales, Production or Administrative teams (specification review, report and submission documentation preparation, SAP and Salesforce requests, incident investigations, specialty projects).
  • Participate in Quality Audits and product development (including conducting and reporting on trial mixes as per customer's requirements) and corrective/preventive action plans preparation and achievement to improve quality and minimize potential cost of Quality Claims.
  • Develop and maintain database of aggregate products and identify potential for utilization of long products, blended sand, and any potential improvements to existing materials.
  • Participate in and/or deliver technical training to technicians, operations, or sales personnel.
