Job Purpose:The Wellness Promoter is responsible for delivering mental health and addictions programming to schools to support healthy children and youth.

This position works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to enhance capacity to meet the objectives of Mental Health initiatives by developing and delivering developmentally appropriate programming to children, youth and families within school settings.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Working knowledge of client centered mental health and addictions interventions, practice methods and professional skills.
  • Key presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively engage a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally responsive services to a diverse group of clients.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills utilizing strengthsbased practices and solution focused interactions.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, both verbally in in written form.
  • Ability to engage community resources, treatment centers, social services networks, nonprofit organizations and community businesses.
  • Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

Qualifications:


  • Diploma in a human servicerelated field (i

e:
Mental Health and Addictions Counselling, Youth Care Worker, Child and Youth Care Counsellor) for Wellness Promoters supporting MHCB initiative.

  • Experience working in studentfocused services such as addictions and mental health.

Working Conditions:


  • Employment conditions as per COE agreement.
  • 35 hours per week
  • Commencing as soon as possible and ending July 31, 202
  • Starting salary: $36.00 per hour.
  • This position requires a flexible work day and requires work during evenings, weekends and school breaks.
  • Some travel between schools and community organizations is required using a fleet vehicle.
