- Monitor and maintain chip-quality objectives; assess how chip characteristics influence fibreline performance and final product quality.
- Optimize fibre-supply and chip-handling strategies to improve quality and yield in collaboration with the Fibre Manager and the Fibre & Site Services Superintendent.
- Lead vendor corrective actions for chip-supply quality issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term improvement.
- Track, analyze, and improve key quality metrics for unbleached kraft pulp using Lean/Six Sigma tools to reduce variability and improve customer satisfaction.
- Create, maintain and improve quality-related SOPs, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Serve as a technical resource for customer quality concerns, providing clear communication and support.
- Lead customer complaint investigations, including data/root cause analysis, mill audits, and cross-functional problem solving.
- Prepare concise technical reports and communicate findings and corrective actions to customers and internal teams.
- Provide proactive insights to commercial and operations teams related to customer performance and product expectations.
- Lead product development and optimization efforts that create measurable value for the mill.
- Support development of new pulp grades, product enhancements, and application-specific performance improvements.
- Plan and execute mill trials focused on quality and performance validation, including sampling and data analysis. Provide recommendations for product enhancements afterwards.
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to provide technical expertise for customer visits and market development activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2 - 5 years' experience in kraft pulping, fibreline operations, or pulp quality management preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience interpreting complex process and customer data.
- Effective communicator with strong technical writing and customer-facing skills.
- Experience with quality systems and technical customer service.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma, SPC, or other continuous-improvement methodologies is an asset.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g. PI, Power BI, Minitab) is an asset.
